@ Chicago Cultural Center, Learning Lab
78 E Washington St. Chicago, IL 60602
Opening Saturday, July 6th, from 1PM - 3PM
Andrea Carlson is an Ojibwe visual artist from Chicago, Illinois. Through painting and drawing, Carlson cites entangled cultural narratives and institutional authority relating to objects based on the merit of possession and display. Current research activities include Indigenous Futurism and assimilation metaphors in film. Her work has been acquired by institutions such as the British Museum, the Minneapolis Institute of Art, and the National Gallery of Canada. Carlson was a 2008 McKnight Fellow and a 2017 Joan Mitchell Foundation Fellow.
Join Andrea Carlson in the LEARNING LAB at the Chicago Cultural Center July 6th at 1PM for a presentation on Ojibwe words that are all around us as we walk the streets of Chicago in the traditional lands of the Three Fires Council.
