What is an asset-based framework, and how can we apply it to education reporting? And what do we mean when we talk about ‘Whole Learners’? Join the Chicago Learning Exchange and Project Exploration on May 2 to find out.

According to the University of Chicago’s Consortium on School Research (CCSR), most policy efforts focus on in-school education achievement, like test scores or college completion, as a major indicator of success. However, researchers, educators, parents, and employers agree: today’s students require academic prowess and a set of soft and hard skills. These skills are often developed and nurtured in the out-of-school time space, where students spend most of their waking hours (NAESP/AfterschoolAlliance). This time is often referred to as the “other 60 percent.”

Find out how Austin residents are taking an asset-based approach and shining a spotlight on the innovative learning happening in their neighborhood through Remake Learning Days Chi, and other initiatives outlined in their community-led Quality of Life Plan.
