NEW MONUMENTS FOR NEW CITIES
@ Boathouse Cafe
1301 N Humboldt Dr, Chicago, IL 60622
Opening Thursday, May 9th, from 5:30PM - 7:30PM
The Trust for Public Land invites you to join us for a reception to celebrate the opening of “New Monuments for New Cities” at The 606. We will be joined by The Trust for Public Land CEO Diane Regas, who will share her vision for our local and national work, and Tonika Lewis Johnson whose work for “New Monuments for New Cities” will be featured during the first week of the exhibition. Drinks and hors d’ouvres will be served.
Commissioned by the High Line Network, this international exhibition asked each of five participating cities to select five artists to respond to the prompt “who or what deserves a monument?” The Trust for Public Land partnered with local community-based organizations to select the Chicago artists whose 2D artwork along with artists from the other cities will form a dynamic display along The 606 through October.
We invite you to view the art on The 606 at Humboldt Boulevard before or after the reception! Parking is available on site, and additional logistics will be sent prior to the event.
