The Uncanon Artist Talks series seeks to center artist of color who’s work delineates/ interrogates the european western art canon. In this mission we’ve included artist like Keijuan Thomas, Njideka Akunyili Crosby, En Iwanarua, Jenn Nkiru and Hellen Jo.
For this segment of Uncanon Artist talks we are excited to bring GUADALUPE ROSALES to share her work with you.
Guadalupe Rosales is the founder of the instagram page @Veteranas_and_rucas and @map_pointz. Where she welcomes submissions from Chicanx communities crowdsourcing material and utilizing archives to give Chicanx people the ability of self-determination in expressing their identities.
Her work has been featured in exhibitions at Aperture Foundation, NYC; The Vincent Price Art Museum, Monterey Park, California; Commonwealth and Council, Los Angeles; Bemis Center for Contemporary Arts, Omaha; Spazio Maiocchi, Milan Italy; and the Museum of Contemporary Art North Miami.She has lectured at numerous museums and academic institutions, including the University of California, Los Angeles; Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles; J. Paul Getty Museum, Los Angeles; New Museum, New York; New York University; and YALE, New Haven Connecticut. She received an MFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 2016. Guadalupe Rosales is the 2019 recipient of Gordon Parks Foundation fellowships.
