Katie Wood: IMMANENT DOMAIN / EXHIBIT A
@ LITHIUM
1932 S Halsted St, Suite 200, Chicago, IL 60608
Opening Saturday, March 2nd, from 3PM - 5PM
On view through Saturday, March 2nd
Please join us for a performance by artist Katie Wood (MFA 2019), followed by a closing reception for Fractured: Digital Topographies. Woodâs video essay IMMANENT DOMAIN / EXHIBIT A documents the death throes and life throes of the land in the Anthropocene through a series of site-based rituals. In this performance iteration, a pirate FM radio transmission will follow a screening of the video. The transmission will be broadcast on a series of handmade radios, probing for a way out of the feedback loop of exploitative relationship to the land. Wood creates digitally augmented and acoustic soundscapes, ephemeral transmissions, and live works that blur boundaries between emergence and disappearance, cultivating refuges for silence.
The performance will begin at 3 p.m. with reception to follow, at LITHIUM, 1932 S Halsted, Suite 200. This event is free and open to the public.
