Happy Birthday, Public Newsroom! Our weekly workshop series turns 100 in March, and we want YOU to join the party.

In November 2016, we launched the Public Newsroom at our trusty neighbor Build Coffee. More than 100 folks joined us and sociologist/poet Eve Ewing to talk about how reporters can responsibly cover marginalized communities. Nearly every week since then we have hosted a wide range of workshops, including a demo on using theater to facilitate community conversations, a panel on community benefits agreements across the city, a youth-led presentation on combating adultism in public schools, and more.

To celebrate 100 free, public workshops (over 200 hours of good, wholesome mutual learning) we’re bringing in local TV legend Chic-A-Go-Go and a special musical guest TBA. Come in your best home-made costume and be ready to dance, eat cake, and have fun. We’ll have plenty of activities for kids and adults alike. We’ll even have a costume-making table!

RSVP here via Eventbrite. Entry is first come, first serve: tinyurl.com/pn100-PARTY

City Bureau’s #PublicNewsroom is a series of free, weekly workshops and discussions aimed at building trust between journalists and the communities they serve while shaping a more inclusive newsroom.
