Please join us for an Artist Talk & Reception with our current exhibiting artist, Whit Forrester!
Friday, February 8th 5-7:30pm, talk begins at 6pm.
Interested in how the Divine is embodied through light, Forrester references the golden halo common to religious iconography as a means to elevate the ordinary and often neglected. Forrester’s gilded portraits of everyday houseplants call into question our human relationship to nature and spirituality, as well as histories of colonization and capitalism.
Whit Forrester earned a BA in Environmental Studies from Oberlin College (2007) and MFA in Photography from Columbia College (2017). Forrester’s work has been exhibited nationally and internationally and has been included in exhibitions at the Museum of Contemporary Art, Chicago, IL (2018); Trestle Projects, New York, NY (2017), Hyde Park Art Center, Chicago, IL (2015), among others. Forrester is currently an Assistant Professor of Art in Residence at Bradley University, Peoria, Illinois.
