Inheritance Quilt Unveiling and Conversation
@ Read/Write Library Chicago
914 N California Ave, Walton Entrance, Chicago, IL 60622
Opening Saturday, December 15th, from 4PM - 6PM
Join Inheritance: Quilting Across Prison Walls for a conversation about art, healing, and incarceration. Inheritance founder Rachel Wallis will be in conversation with artists and activists Melissa Blount and Monica Cosby about the liberatory power of art in carceral settings. We will also be unveiling the completed Inheritance Quilt, created through a series of community quilting circles in collaboration with women in Cook County Jail.
Read/Write Library is wheelchair accessible. For other accessibility needs, please contact Rachel.a.wallis@gmail.com
Inheritance Quilt is organized in collaboration with the Chicago Community Bond Fund and Love and Protect. Financial support was provided by the School of the Art Institute’s Artist in Residence Program, and Envisioning Justice, a program of Illinois Humanities.
