From the awe-inspiring moment of the Annunciation to the joy of the Nativity to the glittering splendor of the Adoration of the Magi, the Christmas story has inspired some of the most magnificent works of art in the Western tradition. Educator Jeff Nigro illuminates the sacred story of Christmas through a diverse array of artworks from the Middle Ages, Renaissance, and beyond, including masterpieces by Botticelli, Leonardo da Vinci, and Rembrandt, and the Art Institute’s spectacular Neapolitan crèche.
