WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION
Encounter wabi-sabi via wandering stitch lines and a partner communication exercise
Witness the inherent magic of organic indigo as bundled cloth fades from brilliant yellow to vivid blue when lifted from the vat of sweet-smelling, frothy liquid
Achieve a deep saturation of color contrasted with undyed silk building unique shibori patterns
Engage sustainability and mindfulness concepts as you gain a working knowledge of the history and practice of indigo
ABOUT YUMUKO WORKSHOP
Yumuko Workshop is a social practice studio engaging audiences in sustainability, longevity, and mindfulness in textiles practices. Creative Director and Founder, Lindsay Brock Coulter obtained her MA in Art Therapy from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago where she pursued an intersection of social practice, sustainability, and fashion theory. She developed a foundation in Japanese philosophy and aesthetics by way of an intensive indigo praxis. Currently, she lives and works in New York City.
