Opening Monday, October 29th, from 5PM - 8PM
On view through Saturday, December 15th
Come by our horrific opening night of Hokin Project’s new exhibition: “The Final Trope.”
“The Final Trope” is an immersive installation at the Hokin Gallery opening on October 29, 2018. Curated by Owen Rodriguez, this exhibit features a collection of horror movie histories, intertwining the concept of horror movie tropes and cliches. The exhibit follows a group of five characters that lead to different rooms to shed light and blood on these concepts.
The narrative is told in a linear fashion, like a film, where audience members can follow along with the story. The space presents props, costumes, posters, and artwork all thematically displayed inside a haunted house like atmosphere.
Recommended for ages 13+ due to some graphic images.
A “Beautiful Monstrosities” panel, Eat or Be Eaten: Women in Horror, will be hosted in the gallery following the opening reception.. This is in collaboration with Columbia College Chicago’s library.
