Living Room Realty Art Gallery is please to present A Young Person’s Guide to Hot and Sour by Derek Erdman. It’s about good things and bad things in life and how they’re sometimes hard to tell apart.
This is Erdman’s first solo art show since moving back to Chicago in late 2017. He started painting in the early 2000s while living in Pilsen after selling his share of a record store that I owned in Hyde Park. In the late 2000s he lived in a gallery in Bucktown and regularly had house shows. Eventually I moved to Seattle and worked for the Stranger as a columnist and illustrator, and later worked at Sub Pop Records. Erdman missed the Midwest so much that he eventually decided to move back last year.
