The Chicago Teachers Union Foundation proudly presents A Conversation with Dr. Angela Y. Davis moderated by Dr. David O. Stovall centered around our juvenile and adult criminal justice system.
Dr. Angela Y. Davis, prominent activist, educator, and author life’s work emphasize building disenfranchised communities for economic, racial, and gender justice. She is primarily concerned with society’s tendency to devote more resources and attention to the prison system than to educational institutions.
Moderating this critical and historical discussion is Dr. Stovall, a University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) professor and the author of Born Out of Struggle. Dr. Stovall studies the influence of race in urban education, community development, and housing.

All funds raised from the night’s event go directly to support public school teachers and students through one or more of the Chicago Teachers Union Foundation’s campaigns: Student Special Assistance Fund, Public Scholarship Pathways for CPS high school students that are college bound, Restorative Practice Training for Educators and Students in the classroom or Career Pathways: Vocational Training for Students and Teachers.
