Movement Exchange Sessions
@ Links Hall
3111 N Western Ave, Chicago, IL 60618
Opening Saturday, February 17th, at 2PM
Blue Fire Dance Collective is excited to host our second Chicago Movement Exchange!
After the success of our 2017 program and the resulting creation of Spectrum, we’ve chosen to expand our movement exchange program in 2018. Starting February we’ll be hosting a weekly exchanges on Saturday’s from 2-4pm at Links Hall (3111 N Western Ave, Chicago, Illinois).
We are calling all dancers, movers, improvisers, circus artists, clowns, stilt dancers, and physical theatre performers to join!
This year our vision is to connect Circus artists and dancers/movers in order to devise work using a variety of movement vocabulary.
These exchanges are open to anyone and everyone. All exchange sessions are also FREE of charge (though donations are appreciated) and free of long-term commitment. You dont need to come every week, you don’t have to stay the whole time, you can observe or participate however you like. This is also a great way to experiment with new ideas and network with movement artists from across the spectrum.
We are also excited to welcome painter and visual artist, Purple Stitch back to the crew!
He will be present at many exchanges creating paintings and sculpture responding to the work happening in the space. Purple Stitch last collaborated with us during our 2017 movement exchange and created the environment for Spectrum.
To be added to the participation list for our 2018 Movement Exchange

Please note that movement exchanges are not classes or training sessions. While everyone is encouraged to broaden their horizons by learning new things, we encourage you do so in certified trainings facilities with professional instructors in your new discipline of interest. Nobody will be permitted to engage in high risk activities, such as aerial, during exchange sessions without proper training, spotting, and equipment.
Artists involved in the movement exchange are also invited to plug their own classes, jams, and events to others at the exchange.
