Eclipsing Workshop: Embodying Justice with Gabrielle Civil
@ Links Hall
3111 N Western Ave, Chicago, IL 60618
Opening Saturday, February 3rd, from 4PM - 6PM
On view through Sunday, February 4th
How can we bring our full, socially marked, embodied selves into the urgent now? How can we recognize the selves and social locations of others? How can we shift, enact, and create change? In this dynamic, 1.5-2 hour workshop, Gabrielle Civil will invite us to practice bringing justice into our bodies. Inspired by AnaLouise Keating, Gloria E. Anzaldúa, Rev. angel Kyodo williams and James Baldwin, this workshop incorporates wise words, candid conversation and embodied exercises. This workshop resonates with the festival concept of eclipse in that it “opens a space [to] reveal [and] challenge dominant and oppressive systems, structures and ways of seeing.
This program is made possible in part by a grant from Illinois Humanities, the National Endowment for the Humanities, and the Illinois General Assembly.
