This 1987 comedy classic challenges ethnic stereotyping and the marginalization of Blackness perpetuated in Hollywood and cinema. Robert Townsend, director and co- writer of the semi – autobiographical screenplay, stars as the protagonist, Bobby, a struggling actor. Through Bobby, we witness a journey of outrageous, film industry roadblocks as he strives to become successful.
