@ Spertus Institute for Jewish Learning and Leadership
610 S Michigan Ave, Chicago, IL 60605
Opening Sunday, December 10th, from 3PM - 5PM
This tour will be led by Peter N. Gray, Joyce Polance, and Pauline L. Silberman.
Outside Inside: Exploring Boundaries and Otherness displays new works created by Spertus Institute’s second Chicago cohort of the Midwest Jewish Artists Lab. This yearlong initiative brought together twelve distinguished local artists for workshops, study, and critiques. During the course of the program, each participant created an artwork or series around the theme of boundaries.
Peter N. Gray works with the sculptural aesthetics of science at his Metal-i-Genics Studio. His public works can be seen at Dixon School in Chicago, at Chicago State University, and in parks and sculpture gardens throughout the Midwest.
Joyce Polance is primarily known for her figurative oil paintings. She is represented by Judy Ferrara Gallery in Three Oaks, Michigan, and Elephant Room in Chicago, and her paintings are held internationally in private and corporate collections.
Pauline Silberman taught at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago for nearly 30 years. Her work is in private collections as well as in the collections of Duke University Medical Center and Columbia College Chicago.
