Kwanzaa Ritual Reunion and Listening Party
@ Rootwork Gallery
645 W 18th Street, Chicago, IL 60616
Opening Friday, December 29th, from 6PM - 9PM
Save the Date and celebrate Black Love, Black Business and Black Empowerment with us on December 29th, 2017!!! As we prepare for 2018 and the first full moon of the New Year on Jan.1st, let us come together and reflect on the seeds we’ve sewn all year, pay homage to God and the ancestors, break bread together and give mind to all that the new year has in store for us! Just one year to the date following the 50th Anniversary of Kwanzaa, let us remember why Baba Maulana Karenga created Kwanzaa during the height of the Black Power Movement of the 60s! SANKOFA IT!!! Let us remember the way we were as we step in to who we choose to be! Another year, another opportunity to be even greater than before.
Following the Kwanzaa ceremony and lighting of the Kinara, we will enjoy the official Chicago LOVE SHOT listening party with Nigerian-American International Recording Artist UGOCHI!!! The beautiful spirit-filled ‘GIVE THANKS’ single off the soon-to-be-released album ‘Love Shot’, remixed by Chicago’s own Steve Miggedy Maestro, has been featured at the House Music Fest in Amsterdam & Switzerland, was nominated Choice of the Week by spiritofhouse.com, and is in current rotation on AM1390! I am also excited to unveil the artwork I created for the album cover!! Come out and enjoy a chill environment, good vibes and some activities to get us thinking about the things that really matter in this life. Ase!!!
