Dec 2nd 2017

Imagine using a banana to play Donkey Kong. Or a cardboard box to make music. Or a dance to take photos. In this workshop we’ll create alternative controllers that explore using our bodies and other common household items to control digital games and apps. We’ll talk about how the experience changes when we create different ways to interact and new perspectives on play and accessibility. Please BYOL (Bring Your Own Laptop) if you’re able, but one is absolutely not required to participate!

Led by Hey! Play! curator LeAnne Wagner, you need absolutely no design, game, or coding experience to particiapte. We’ll be using simple tools and Makey Makey boards (https://www.makeymakey.com/) to experiment. Just come ready to make!

ChiDM Presents is a semi-monthly event series within Hey! Play! Games in Modern Culture. All events are free and open to the public, and held at the Chicago Design Museum on the 3rd floor of Block 37.
