Chicago, Il: C.C.’s Art Garage will be hosting the 2nd Annual Portrait Exhibition: You, Me & Everyone Else, curated by co-founder of Elephant Room Gallery, Kim Atwood, again this year. Last year was an amazing exhibition filled with some powerful portrait work by new and emerging artists. For this year, 20 artists has been asked to include one portrait piece for the exhibition and work will include painting, photography and mixed media.
Portraiture is a valuable art form that continues to evolve as artists push the boundaries of what it means to document people. Some of the artists have looked inward to create a self-portrait while some turn the perspective onto others. A portrait is not only about the resulting image but the relationship, whether real or fictional, between that subject and the artist. The way in which the artist chooses to portray someone is an important part of the story. Details like lines in the face, a gesture, the setting, or the angle of view all make a single portrait unique and full of information that we get to piece together as the viewer.
The impressive roster of artists this year include Adonte Clark, Amanda Joy Calobrisi, Andy Bellomo, Anna Murphy, Beata Chrzanowska, Cesar Conde, Chantala Kommanivanh, Charlotte Klein, Christie Chew-Wallace, Diana Leviton Gondek, Emily Dahlquist, James Nelson, Jennifer Cronin, Joyce Polance, Kayla Mahaffey, Keelan McMorrow, Laura Collins, Max Sansing, Rachel Hanel and Tyesha Moores. Held at one of the most unique exhibition spaces in Chicago, the 2nd Annual Portrait Exhibition: You, Me and Everyone Else is a show not to be missed! Many of the artists will be available at the opening reception and artwork will be available for purchase.
The exhibition is November 3rd and 4th only and will be held at C.C.’s Art Garage, located at 2727 S Mary St. in the Bridgeport neighborhood of Chicago. There will be an opening reception on Friday, Nov. 3rd from 6pm to 9pm and open hours on Saturday, Nov. 4th from 11am to 4pm. Both dates are free and open to the public. Parking is available and the gallery is located near the Halsted Orange Line stop on Halsted and Archer Ave. Guests can contact Kim Atwood at 312-361-0281 for a private viewing or with any other inquiries.
