Teach In: CPS Curriculum on Police Torture and Reparations
@ Jefferson Park Library
5363 W Lawrence Ave, Chicago, IL 60630
Opening Thursday, November 9th, from 5:30PM - 7:30PM
Have you heard that Chicago Public Schools (CPS) has a new curriculum that teaches all 8th and 10th grade students about the history of police torture and reparations in Chicago?
Please join us on Thursday, November 9 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at the Jefferson Park Public Library (5363 W. Lawrence Ave. in Chicago). TICKETS REQUIRED
Speakers will include CPS teachers (who are teaching and have been trained on the curriculum) and a representative of the Chicago Torture Justice Center (one of the organizations involved in bringing about the curriculum).
At the teach-in, you will learn facts that answer some of the questions that have been raised, such as:
• What the curriculum is (and is not).
• How and why the curriculum came about.
• How the curriculum relates to current issues and efforts in Chicago.
SUGGESTED DONATION: $5 for the panelists and the Chicago Torture Justice Center.
We hope to see you there!
