38th Annual Dia de los Muertos
@ Elevarte Community Studio
1119 W Cullerton St, Chicago, IL 60608
Opening Thursday, November 2nd, from 3PM - 8PM
This Fall marks the 38th Annual Dia de los Muertos community procession at ElevArte! It is the longest-running Day of the Dead event in Pilsen. Rooted in Mexican tradition, Dia de los Muertos serves as a joyous occasion to celebrate life and honor the memory of our ancestors as much as loved ones who have recently departed.
The culminating event is a multi-disciplinary spectacle that includes interactive activities, performances and a grand community-led procession with large puppets, decorated hand-pushed carts and street-level ofrendas (altars).
The evening concludes with light refreshments of hot chocolate and Pan de Muerto (bread of the dead). Bring your walking shoes, your Muertos-inspired attire, and/or your own mobile ofrenda.
WE WELCOME ALL NEIGHBORS, FAMILIES, AND FRIENDS FOR AN EVENING OF SPECTACLE, SOLIDARITY, AND ANCESTRAL REMEMBRANCE.
