Reclaiming Casa Aztlan
@ Casa Aztlan
1831 S Racine Ave, Chicago, IL 60608
Opening Saturday, October 21st, at 5PM
On view through Sunday, October 22nd
Join the Pilsen Community as we celebrate 15 years of 18th Street Pilsen Open Studios
During this event we will be honoring Casa Aztlan, a pioneer for the arts in Pilsen. Casa Aztlan not only provided a transformative space for creativity in the neighborhood but also provided critical resources to the community related to health, education and hardship support.
This year the historic murals of Casa Aztlan were painted over by developers raising awareness about gentrification and the loss of community spaces for people of color.
On OCTOBER 21st & 22nd we reclaim space at Casa Aztlan and honor the strong histories of our past and gather to reimagine the future.
How can we come together to create autonomous spaces for community power?
