Readings and Conversation: Hương Ngô

On the occasion of her solo exhibition at Chicago Artists Coalition, BOLT Resident Hương Ngô will co-host a event with fiction writer Vu Tran, which will include readings by Unoma Azuah, Ada Cheng and Tran followed by a conversation on themes of immigration, refugee subjectivity, and storytelling.

ARTIST BIOS
Hương Ngô is an artist, born in Hong Kong and based in Chicago. Her research-based practice critically engages discourses on belonging and difference, diasporic identities, andlanguage, using a conceptual, interdisciplinary, and often collaborative approach.
Vu Tran was born in Saigon, Vietnam and raised in Oklahoma. He is the winner of Whiting Award, and his first novel, Dragonfish, was a NY Times Notable Book of 2015. He is currently an Assistant Professor of Practice at the University of Chicago.
Unoma Azuah is an award winning writer whose research and activism focus on LGBT writing in Nigerian Literature. She teaches writing at the Illinois Institute of Art, Chicago, IL. Recently, Unoma concluded a book project on the lives of queer Nigerians entitled Blessed Body: secret lives of LGBT Nigerians.
Ada Cheng is a professor-turned storyteller and performing artist. She has been featured at storytelling shows in Chicago, Atlanta, Cedar Rapids, New York, Asheville, and Kansas City. She has performed her solo show, NOT QUITE: ASIAN AMERICAN BY LAW, ASIAN WOMAN BY DESIRE, at National Storytelling Conference, Capital Fringe Festival, Minnesota Fringe Festival, and Boulder International Fringe Festival this year. Her motto: Make your life the best story you tell. She is currently working on her second solo show.
