Justus Roe: Standing Wave
@ Standing Passengers
1458 W Chicago Ave, Chicago, IL 60642
Opening Saturday, October 14th, from 6PM - 9PM
On view through Thursday, November 16th
Standing Wave is a continuing series of paintings and sculpture installations exploring the intersection between wild style graffiti aesthetics and abstract landscape paintings. Influenced by architecture, city grid systems, and abstract art, the works are reminiscent of aerial perspectives and metropolitan environments.
“The taut and telegraphic murmur of ten thousand city wires, drawn most cruelly against a city sky. The rush of city waters, beneath the city streets. The passionate passing of the night’s last El.”
– Nelson Algren, Never Come Morning
