1-4 PM: SECOND SUNDAY ART ACTIVITIES
Create something fun at the Art Center’s series of free, family friendly art making activities led by Hyde Park Art Center professional teaching artists.

1-3 PM: FILM SCREENING: YOUNG @ ART
Join us for a screening of Young @ Art, a documentary based on the Young @ Heart Chorus, a group of New England senior citizens who perform rock and pop songs to delighted audiences worldwide, covering everyone from James Brown to Coldplay.
This is program is a part of Artful Aging at Any Age.

1-3 PM: PUBLIC CRITIQUE, FRONT & CENTER
Join exhibiting artists from Front & Center as they present works, talk about their process, and answer questions.

2-5 PM: OPEN STUDIOS
Meet our resident artists and get an inside look at their studios and practices.

3-5 PM: EXHIBITION RECEPTION: FRONT & CENTER, MATERIALS DECODED, AND VIRTUE OF THE VICIOUS
FRONT & CENTER: Front & Center is the culminating show from our Professional Development offering, Center Program, offering the unique opportunity over six months for artists to evolve their practice. The program includes feedback from guest artists, gallerists, critics, and professionals in the field, the opportunity to connect with a peer network, and ultimately produce strong new work to show. This year’s exhibition, guest curated by Caroline Picard, Executive Director and Head Curator of The Green Lantern Press and Co-Director of Sector 2337, features work by 25 artists across a variety of media. The 2017 class of Center Program artists includes: Bambi Breakstone, Dawn Brennan, Lauren Carter, Luis DeLaTorre, Angela Dieffenbach, Carlos Flores, Nico Gardner, Silvia Gonzalez, Manal Kara, Soohyun Kim, Angela Lopez, Bobbi Meier, John Metido, Judith Mullen, Abhishek Narula, Grace Needlman, Katherine Nemanich, Connie Noyes, Yoonshin Park, Olivia Petrides, Mary Porterfield, Megan Stroech, Leonard Suryajaya, Rambod Vala, and Miakka Wood. MATERIALS DECODED: Visual artist and trained architect Amanda Williams will run an IIT Undergraduate Studio class addressing the social, cultural and economic value of the materials commonly and uncommonly use to create buildings. The class will conduct their materials lab from the Art Center’s Reva and David Logan Studio and feature selected developments made in the class in Gallery 5. The architectural objects in the exhibition will evolve and rotate as the research into materials digs deeper throughout the run of the show.

VIRTUE OF THE VICIOUS: Virtue of the Vicious presents an examination of the current political climate from the perspective of eight contemporary artists. Curated by Hyde Park Art Center’s Director of Exhibitions & Residency Programs Allison Peters Quinn, the exhibition features photography, sculpture, painting and video by Paul Stephen Benjamin, Kevin Blake, Jasmine Clark, Eric J. Garcia in collaboration with Luis Mayorga, Michelle Hartney, Jay Turner Frey Seawell and El Coyote Cojo(Emilio Rojas and Adela Goldbard). Learn More.
