Hey, Chicago, come out on September 30th and celebrate the release of my new book, entitled Exposure is Key, Solving Violence by Exposing Teens to Opportunities.
This book release celebration means a lot to me because the last year of my life has been one big faith walk. Sure, I’ve been on TV, and I’ve won multiple awards, and for that I’m truly grateful. But when the cameras are off, the reality is that I have a family but still left my full-time job in an effort to prove that the power of travel is transformative and can change the trajectory of an inner city teenager’s life. I went all in because I truly believe Exposure is a Key solution to solving violence.
This road has been full of pitfalls and detours, it’s also been so narrow that I can hardly turn around at times. Being super clear on my why, keeping my vision in focus, and having faith gives me the reassurance to sleep at night.
Don’t just take it from me, read the testimonials from my explorers and you’ll discover the challenges and limitations created by geographic boundaries, as well as the rewards that come from working with youth.
Of course, I’m having this party at the Theater Gates, designed Stony Island Arts Bank, in South Shore because I want you all to become explorers, as well. To truly make our city great, we need more people, young and old, to visit community areas outside of their own.
Join me on Saturday September 30th from 7:00 p.m. – 11:00 p.m. at the Stony Island Arts Bank, located at 6760 S. Stoney Island Ave. There will be an open bar, and hor d’oeuvres will be served. The $20 admission fee gets you a copy of the book, food, drink, and entertainment provided by Anthony Evora, DJ Alo, and Singer/Songwriter Stephen Sauer.
