Kartemquin’s 1974 film (made during our collective years) will screen at the Chicago Cultural Center Claudia Cassidy Theater on August 12 at 2PM and August 13 at 2PM, as part of the Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events’ Year of Public Art film screening series.
Film subject and muralist Ray Patlan, a pioneer of Pilsen muralism, will speak prior to the August 12th screening.
ABOUT THE FILM
Not just a colorful record of the making of a mural in Chicago’s Pilsen community led by Ray Patlán, this film traces the mural movement of the mid-1970’s back to murals in Mexico.
Different people view the mural and reflect on its meaning for themselves as Latinos.
