Chicago media is in a moment of transition. The Chicago Sun-Times is under new ownership, local nonproft and community news outlets are working for change on the ground as national outlets move to the city, and foundations are seeking to stabilize a fractured media ecosystem.

At City Bureau, we believe a thriving media ecosystem is key to an informed citizenry, but solutions to our collective challenges will require diverse voices, ideas and input. #PublicNewsroom #33 is one of many places where this conversation will take place.

Join us as we bring local journalists and the public together to discuss which media models are already playing a role in the Chicago media ecosytem and which national models could serve as examples for a stronger local media landscape.

Our guest speakers:
Sheila Solomon: Rivet Radio, Democracy Fund
Scott Smith: Social/Digital Media Strategist
Blanca Rios: ABC 7 Chicago, NAHJ Region 6 Director

The event will be moderated by City Bureau Editorial Director Darryl Holliday and will feature an open discussion followed by a hands-on exercise designed to help define and identify our local media industry.

Our weekly Public Newsroom workshop series is always free and always open to the public thanks to your support.
