We All Come to the Table: Food as a Storyteller
@ Swedish American Museum
5211 N Clark St, Chicago, IL 60640
Opening Wednesday, July 19th, from 7PM - 8PM
As part of our “Nordic: a Photographic Essay of Landscapes, Food and People” exhibit by Magnus Nilsson, we will be hosting a fascinating talk led by two Chicago restaurant professionals, general manager of Southport & Irving Ardit Dizdari and Café 28 owner Berta Navarro. The two began Unity in Diversity dinners at restaurant Southport & Irving, hosting immigrant cooks from Albania, India, Pakistan, Mexico and Ireland, among others.
Dizdari and Navarro will discuss the inspiration and heart behind the dinners, while reminding us, “We all grew up around our mother’s and grandmother’s tables. We may have different processes, but the point is we have shared stories.â€
Reservations are recommended and can be made by emailing museum@samac.org, on our website or in-person at the Museum.
