Sade Edwards: Love Letters
@ Everybody's Coffee
935 W. Wilson, Chicago, IL 60640
Opening Friday, June 9th, from 6PM - 8PM
On view through Monday, July 10th
Love Letters: is the latest art exhibit at Everybody’s Coffee, 935 W. Wilson, Chicago in the Uptown neighborhood. This highly autobiographical show features the work of Sade Edwards, a digital artist. Working in the vein of manga art, Sade has created strong women characters.
“I love creating worlds and stories people can get lost in.”
Many of the pieces refer to events or people in the artist’s life. For example, “Toxicity” represents the junctures in friendship. How people change, move on, and sometimes let go. Her title piece “Love Letters to Brooklyn ” gives us a lone figure in a tank top against a background of letters. She looks straight ahead, almost at the viewer.
“ ‘Love Letters to Brooklyn’ is very special to me. It’s where I started to spirtually and mentally grow as a woman, it’s where I met new friends , become and adult, and it is also where I met my boyfriend (now my husband.) I have so many friends there that I miss. If I could afford it, I’d move back to Brooklyn in a heartbeat,” says Sade.
Sade Edwards is a Chicago transplant. She lives in the Edgewater neighborhood and works in Illustration and User Experience Design. This is her first show. The exhibit will be up until July 10th.
