Black Lives Matter Witness Quilt is being created by Melissa Blount, MEET (Making Evanston Equitable Together) and community volunteers. MEET wants to continue gathering the community to engage in social justice handwork activities and create a Black Lives Matter Witness Quilt, to honor and draw attention to the lives of Black women and girls lost to violence in Chicago by incorporating their names into a community quilt.

Community Sewing Circles have been taking place over the last several months to create this beautiful quilt, of all sewing levels.

The final quilt will be revealed June 25, 4-5 p.m. at the Frances Willard Home at 1730 Chicago Ave. We’ll hear about the importance of craftivism from the time of Frances Willard to today.
