Chicago Artists Coalition is pleased to partner with the City of Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events for Lake FX Chicago CreativeCon 2017, the region’s largest FREE conference for artists and creative entrepreneurs.

This session will introduce artists to their fundamental rights as independent, freelance workers under the law and how to best advocate for their own financial remuneration and intellectual property protections. Incorporating a series of templates and resources, this workshop will also introduce ways for artists to politically organize on behalf of artists’ rights.

PANELISTS BIO

Aram Han Sifuentes is a social practice fiber artist. She has exhibited her work at the Wing Luke Museum of Asian American Experience, Elmhurst Art Museum, Chung Young Yang Embroidery Museum, and Center for Craft, Creativity and Design. She has also been awarded a 2016 Smithsonian Artist Research Fellowship. Han earned her BA in Art and Latin American Studies from the University of California, Berkeley in 2008, and her MFA in Fiber and Material Studies from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 2013. She is currently a Lecturer at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. aramhan.com
