Paint and Polish: Book Release Party and Panel

Photographer Helen Maurene Cooper celebrates the creativity of Chicago’s nail art community and the release of her new book Paint & Polish: Cultural Economy and Visual Culture from the West Side (Onomatopee, 2017).

Following a social cocktail hour, Cooper and West Side nail artists Jackee Blue, Glynnus Alexander and Yara Fernandez will reveal the story behind Paint & Polish in a discussion moderated by contributing essayists Ryan Blocker and Roula Seikaly.

Finally, the collaborators will sell/sign books ($35) and serve slices of cake from Chicago’s legendary Roeser’s Bakery. This event, free and open to the public, is co-sponsored by Threewalls and the Read/Write Library
