B/reading Ground: Open Reading to Close Everyday Rituals Show
@ Rootwork Gallery
645 W 18th Street, Chicago, IL 60616
Opening Sunday, March 26th, from 6:30PM - 9PM
Writing is a ritual
In honor of the closing of its Everyday Rituals exhibition, Rootwork Gallery will host an open reading and writing session in which attendees will be asked to creare and read a piece inspired by the photography of Tonika Lewis Johnson or Adrienne Powes’ paintings.
Please come and bring someone you love and munchies to share if you wish. And if you haven’t seen the current exhibition, don’t miss this last opportunity to view it.
————————–
B/reading Ground seeks to create a communal and generative literary space for avid writers and readers to explore the healing and transformational power of language. Guided by a Black feminist framework and womanist values, B/reading Ground is open to writers of all cultural backgrounds and genders and strives to foster open dialogue around writing as a creative art practice; to present both established and emerging writers to curious and critical audiences; and to allow space for writing and self-examination as a way of rounding the circle.
