Chicago’s Henry Darger is a yearlong series of exhibitions, public programs and performances to commemorate the 125th anniversary of the artist’s birth. Join us for the opening of inaugural exhibitions Unreal Realms and Henry Darger: Author/Artist on January 20.
Unreal Realms features select artists whose works embody an alternative reality in context to Darger’s fantastical Blengin creatures. Henry Darger: Author/Artist displays art accompanied by photographic enlargements of Darger’s actual typewritten pages from his 15,000-page novel, In the Realms of the Unreal.
Poems While You Wait will be in house for you during our opening reception! Bring $5 for an original/Darger-themed poem. Proceeds support the non-profit literary publisher Rose Metal Press.
