A Conversation with Muna Tseng
@ Block Museum
40 Arts Circle Dr, Evanston, IL 60208
Opening Wednesday, October 26th, at 6PM
Experience the work of Tseng Kwong Chi in a guided tour with Muna Tseng—choreographer, dancer, and sister of the artist. Tseng, who is the trustee of the Tseng Kwong Chi estate, will lead a guided tour of her brother’s life and art, giving insight to work whose complexity is belied by its easy humor and grace.
Muna Tseng, (born Hong Kong, lives and works in New York since 1978), is a choreographer and performer, Chair of the Bessies: New York Dance & Performance Award ‘Current Practice’ subcommittee, and the Founder and Artistic Director of Muna Tseng Dance Projects Inc. She has won prestigious awards in contemporary performance and choreography, and lectures globally on the current New York performance/dance scene, her own brother’s photography work, and on estate archive management and legacy. She has been the Director of the Estate Archive of her brother, Tseng Kwong Chi, since his death in 1990. She has overseen exhibitions, installations and publications of Tseng’s photographs worldwide, including the current solo touring exhibition (2015 to 2018) of Tseng Kwong Chi: Performing for the Camera, which comprises over 80 works, and is the most comprehensive exhibition of his work to date.
