Nnenna Okore (born in Australia, raised in Nigeria, lives/works in Chicago), will discuss the eloquence of the materials in her work, in conversation with Staci Boris, Chief Curator and Director of Public Programs at Elmhurst Art Museum. Okore’a large scale sculptures reclaim and reconfigure organic or discarded materials into abstract, richly-textured forms of extraordinary range and nuance. Okore is a 2012 Fulbright Scholar, her upcoming exhibitions include Mattauck Art Museum; Memphis Brook Museum; N’Nandi Center for Contemporary Art, Detroit; and, a solo exhibition at Jenkins Johnson Gallery in 2017.
