All Internal, a collaborative exhibition featuring new work by Banrei and Claire Molek premiers September 15th, 2016 at Silent Funny, 6-9PM. The exhibition is curated by Daniel Schor.
All Internal considers the impossibility of history as fact, drowned out by waves of an imperative present. Within a presentation of both sound and sculptural objects, the exhibition asks that the viewer consider the liberated potential for meaning in that which is obscured beyond experience, negating object-hood and container-hood in the collective muffling of space, sound, and self.
Banrei (otherwise known as Jake Harper) was born in Washington DC in 1988. Formerly of New York and Berlin-based Soundwalk Collective, his work has been exhibited internationally in museums including the Centre Pompidou, Paris; the National Museum of China, Beijing; the Tate Modern, London; and the New Museum, New York. Since 2013, he has been working with sound and site-specific installation under the name Banrei.
Claire Molek is an artist and curator based and born in Chicago (1987). She has presented over 50 exhibitions and worked with over 250 artists, was named one of the top 50 people that drive the art conversation in Chicago by Newcity, and works primarily as an independent project and exhibition consultant as well as a collector and art dealer. This is the first public reception for her personal work.
