Roots & Culture’s Film/Video Screening Series kicks off it’s new season with a collection of video work from recent Chicago MFA graduates: Jessica Pierotti (UIC), Lilli Carré (Northwestern) and Elisabeth Hogeman (University of Chicago). After attending a variety of end of semester exhibitions and critiques, these videos individually stuck with me and then slowly managed to find each other in my head. Whether minimal, bizarre, or intimate, each video finds, reveals, or distorts a body in its respective space. The pieces resonate well with each other while taking their own unique approaches to power, control, gesture, humor and pain.
Come and enjoy this back to school program with artists who don’t have to go to school anymore.
The program:
“Puncture” by Jessica Pierotti
“Jill” by Lilli Carré
“And You the Bell” by Elisabeth Hogeman (above image)
