Teresa Pankratz is an interdisciplinary book and paper artist whose work explores the relationship of the human being to familiar, domestic objects and lost sheltering spaces. She employs the mediums of printmaking, bookbinding, sculpture, writing and performance in the creation of both one-of-a-kind and small editioned narrative sculpture and artist books.
Throughout her twenty-year artist book practice, her work has been exhibited at multiple venues, including the Ryerson Library of the Art Institute of Chicago, the New York Center for Book Arts, the Chicago Cultural Center, the James R. Thompson Center’s Illinois Art Gallery, the Minnesota Center for Book Arts and Chicago’s Newberry Library. Her artist’s books have been included in multiple juried national and international traveling exhibitions, and are part of special collection libraries throughout the United States. Ancillary to her artist book practice, she completed nearly 2000 pen and ink illustrations for various Mennonite-related publications from 1985 to 2006.
