Artist Statement:
Vida y Alma is a true and real essence for me. Life and Soul is an energy and entity that just simply exists, but yet is so complex to fully explain through words. The thoughts and feelings evoked by these ideas are what inspire my colorful, intricate work thus resulting in a lucid, liveliness all on its own. Being Mexican-American and raised in a predominately Mexican Community, I must acknowledge the impact my heritage has made on my art. My artwork comes from a heavy inspiration of the Mexican celebration Dia de los Muertos. This meaningful celebration of life my ancestors have celebrated for many years has become a colorful part of my culture and my art. I’m grateful for this influence which allows me to celebrate the essence of Life & Soul through my art.
