Singing Insect Monitoring Soundwalk (North Park Village Nature Center)

In this first of two sessions, participants will learn the 12 most common and easily identifiable insect calls of Cook County. Walk with Carl Strang, DuPage County naturalist and expert on singing insects; also Eric Leonardson – acoustic ecologist expert, Co-head of the MSAE and Chicago-based sound artist.

Listen for insect sounds and make recordings of singing insects with the Midwest Society for Acoustic Ecology. All participants will receive monitoring materials and pick a site to monitor during the first session.
