Familiar Muse: A Panel Discussion with Kelli Connell
@ LATITUDE
1821 West Hubbard Street, Suite 207 Chicago, IL 60622
Opening Wednesday, June 8th, from 6PM - 8PM
Join LATITUDE and our May Artist in Residence Kelli Connell for a panel discussion. Kelli will be in conversation with artists Lisa Lindvay and Melissa Ann Pinney as the three discuss photographic practices involving subjects photographed over extended periods of time.
About the Artists:
KELLI CONNELL
In “Double Life”, Kelli Connell combines multiple images of a single model to create photographs that appear to document the relationship of two women. These constructed realities question the sexuality and gender roles that shape the identity of the self in intimate relationships.
LISA LINDVAY
In her ongoing photographic series “Hold Together” Lindvay portrays the inner workings of her father, sister, and two brothers as they navigate their way through instability, financial adversity, and the growing pains of adolescence while coping with their mother’s mental health issues.
MELISSA PINNEY
Pinney has been photographing her daughter, Emma, for 21 years. In the “Cellar Door” series, we see Emma grow as the state of the house and garden change with her. Her subjects are emerging feminine identity, memory, and the passage of time.
