Speed dating is quick and acute. While three to five minutes might not be long enough to delve into deep conversation, the first-impression often yields enough–– it is where one can’t help but sitting on judgment, if not attracted.
Date-Date-Date considers three happenings as a singular unit: The triple-date. This event brings together a group of Chicago-based artists so that their works might speak face-to-face. The show becomes a flirtatious environment and site for open exchange where artists engage in coordinated motions. Speed dating is fast yet undeniably compromising; then, time runs out.
The best response to the imperatives of time and deadlines is missing them both in order to set up a next occasion, ANOTHER TIME – RAINCHECK. Each participant must run away from being single by dancing around ––if only momentarily, and submit to the shared foolishness of a collective first time.
TRIPLE DATE IS A GROUP EXHIBITION; JUST LIKE IN SPEED-DATING, THE MATCHING ITSELF HAPPENS AFTER THE EVENT.
