Rob Bondgren, Loretta Bourque, and bourbon
@ Center on Halsted
3656 N Halsted St, Chicago, Illinois 60613
Opening Friday, April 8th, from 7PM - 9PM
On view through Tuesday, May 17th
Over the course of the past 25 years, artists Rob Bondgren and Loretta Bourque have developed a unique personal relationship intertwined with shared aesthetic sensibilities that bridge both their individual and collaborative art-making practices. Having dabbled in direct artistic collaboration sporadically over a quarter century, in 2012 they began instinctually, but intentionally producing their first body of collaborative work under the name bourbon, a combination of their surnames, and a nod to Bourque’s New Orleans’ roots.
Located in the Center’s second floor gallery space, this exhibition will introduce a small group of new bourbon collaborations, and highlight a selection of the artists’ individual and collaborative works previously exhibited in Chicago at Linda Warren Projects, and recontextulaized in this very different space by the Center’s curator David Joseph.
The exhibition will open with a reception on Friday, April 8 from 7:00-9:00 pm and will run through May 17. The Center is open every day from 8:00am-9:00pm. The artists fully support the $5.00 suggested donation on the night of the opening. This donation helps the Center continue to provide important community services and opportunities for artists to exhibit their work in a unique venue that advocates for diversity and inclusion in its public programming.
