Materials Obsession
An exhibition of new work by Gina Lee Robbins, Bobbi Meier & Linda Abrams
Gina Lee Robbins, Bobbi Meier and Linda Abrams present, Materials Obsession, a diverse collection of works that share common beginnings in the artists’ love for materiality. Their work is presented in conversation with one another, as meaning and intent are expressed through materials gathered from the earth and the recycling bin.
Artist Bios:
Gina Lee Robbins creates sculptural objects by intuitively manipulating clay and found materials. Largely self-taught, Robbins has been exhibiting for over 25 years, at locales such as the Harold Washington Library, Koehnline Museum of Art, Masur Museum of Art, Bradley University Galleries, Prairie State College, Brooklyn Waterfront Artists Coalition, Woman Made Gallery and Ellington-White Contemporary, among others. Her sculptures can be found in corporate and private collections worldwide. She has been exhibiting and curating at Gallery Pink since 2010.
Bobbi Meier is a Chicago based artist working in a variety of media. She completed her MFA in Fiber and Material Studies at The School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 2011. Ms. Meier has exhibited in many local and national venues, including; Columbia College Glass Curtain Gallery, Hyde Park Art Center, ARC Gallery, Woman Made Gallery, The Museum of Surgical Science, Las Esquinas Gallery, Kansas City, The Studios of Key West, Florida and Amos Joseph Gallery, New Mexico. She has been curating and exhibiting at Gallery Pink, since 2014.
Linda Abrams creates ceramic works inspired by the textures in nature. Her trash can fired work shown in Materials Obsession highlights the contrast of the clay with the smoke trapped surface against the crackle glaze. With a BFA in Interior Design from Syracuse University, she has come to the art world relatively recently, showing locally at the Bridgeport Arts Center, Oak Park Art League, and Gallery Pink, with a solo exhibit at the Pleasant Home, in Oak Park 2014.
