Spearheaded by Leon Golub, the group of artists dubbed the Monster Roster established the first unique Chicago style. This exhibition, organized by the Smart Museum of Art, brings together approximately 60 major paintings, sculptures, and works on paper in order to provide the definitive account of the movement.
Join us for this first-of-its-kind exhibition and a free public opening celebration on Wednesday, February 10, from 7–9 pm, featuring an in-gallery performance from the Josh Berman Trio and more.
Monster Roster is curated by John Corbett and Jim Dempsey, independent curators and gallery owners; Jessica Moss, Smart Museum Curator of Contemporary Art; and Richard A. Born, Smart Museum Senior Curator.
