Opening Sunday, September 14th, at 7PM
Josh Rios and Anthony Romero present I’ll make you a movie after I eat, a series of screenings, performances, and talks celebrating Chicana/o moving image works.
Please join us for the first event at the Comfort Station in Logan Square (2579 N Milwaukee Ave) on September 14, 2014 at 7 pm for a screening of Frontierland / Fronterilandia directed by Jesse Lerner and Rubén Ortiz Torres and performative lecture by the organizers. Admission is free
Frontierland / Fronterilandia examines multiple points of cultural contact between the United States and Mexico, from South Carolina’s kitschy “South of the Border” tourist complex, to a Mexican Beatles cover band. Working at the boundaries of experimental film and documentary travelogue, Torres and Lerner’s film weaves together found footage, interviews, performance art, and music video to produce a masterful commentary revealing the borderlands as a laboratory of hybridity for both nations.
