Glenn Kaino’s first solo exhibition at Kavi Gupta, Leviathan, continues his engagement with cultural upheaval and takes inspiration from the physical and ephemeral marks and objects left behind in sites of cultural riots and conflicts. Using debris from specific sites where conflict has done away with urban landscape or reduced it to ruins, Kaino presents a series of sculptural works that engage and transform this material into an archeological survey of contemporary cultural conflict. By highlighting the ongoing and circular destruction of society and its structures, these works emphasize a poetic and empathetic response to the consistent transformation of subjects, places and conditions of life under social change.
